—Do you often travel by car?

If it’s anywhere I can go by it, I’m the type to drive there, no matter how far. I like going back to my hometown by car. It is a very private and freeing time while driving, but you can only do so many things while driving, so it is perfect for concentrating on listening to the music.

—Including cars, like airplanes and such, do you think that you are gaining anything from the act of transportation?

I do think that, like the private sense inside a car. You’re driving so you can’t read a book, but you can listen to music. At home, even when you try to listen to music, there’s the T.V. and computer, you can do many other things, but you can’t while traveling in a car. And in the plane, you can watch a movie or read a book. And I have begun to enjoy that restriction. And perhaps, I have become used to, or just good at, finding what I can do while being restricted.

photo01 —Where do you set your standards when choosing an item?

What it looks like at first glance, and the design is quite important. And then I want a sense of a defined comfort.

—As you grow older, has those points changed at all?

Focusing on the design and comfort has not changed, thinking since I was younger, the capacity and budget has changed. I was satisfied with what I could afford back then, and I am now satisfied with what I can purchase with my current capacity. I do not like to be excessive. I lower the hurdle as much as possible. I do not like to shoulder risk, so I don’t push myself, stay within my capacity, and I always want to live without making any debt.

—Since when have you continued by never pushing too hard and by adjusting the height of your hurdle yourself?

It wasn’t something gradual, but it hasn’t really changed from a long time ago. I was sort of a coward. I think that I am not very good at overcoming something bigger than my own capacity. Within the range that you have chosen, and then you aim for the top, so it is sort of like that slowly gets bigger. I cannot explain it well, but for anything, I do not deny anything I do not like. Even for clothes, I of course do not wear anything I don’t like, but I do not deny it. I have had that notice for quite some time now. There are so many cool people that completely dress different than me, and do entirely different things. People do not directly say they do not like something to what they dislike. But I try to say to anything I don’t like, that I don’t like it, it does not mean I am completely denying it, I am accepting the fact that there are some people that do like it. It probably means the same thing, but I always think that I never want to promote only what I like.
